pueblitos y bautismos

Hola familia!!!
Que tal!

This week was super busy and super great. Nothing gets better than being a missionary!!! :) Time is short and we are trying to do all we can before we come home. (Hermana Martinez and I come home the same time!)
Lizet and Manuel
On Monday night we had our appointments all planned out, 3 right in a row at the church! And a member(Lizet, our recent convert) to be with us! Hooray! Our first appointment came, Mauro, super bueno. He will be baptized this week! We finished the lesson and our next investigator, roberto came. We told Mauro he could stay if he wanted so we did. So we had a lesson with them both and then our next investigator, Manuel came and we were still going with that lesson and all 3 of them were there with our member and they were all participating and saying a bunch of things to motivate eachother haha it wasnt really what we had planned but it was what God had planned so it was ok :)

The next day we had a lesson with Mauro and we were talking and he said something that invited the spirit so much "I have learned that repentance is very beautiful". He is super ready and super excited to be baptized!!! The gospel of Jesus Christ mends the deepest wounds, calms the strongest storm. It changes hearts and it is changing Mexico!!!
hermana falcon y hermana hobbs
Well that night I was a good companion and I woke up in the middle of the night and shouted BUENOS DIAS!! I thought it was time to get up and I woke Hna martinez up. She said Is it 1:30?? I l looked at my clock, oops!! So I went to the bathroom just to find a GIANT cockroach and after 20 minutes of trying to kill it (still havent gotten over that fear), we didnt really sleep much after that. haha.

The next morning we took a bus and a combi to Motul!! A little pueblo outside of Merida. I worked with the Hermanas there and Hermana Martinez went to Baca, another pueblito that is close. It was pretty fun, its amazing how humbly these people live. There are 2 wards in this pueblo! We came back the next day.
bautismo de Gerardo!!
Bautimso de Manuel (con su mama)
Thursday night Gerardo (from my old ward) was baptized and I got permission to go! It was super awesome! He asked me to give a talk so I spoke about baptism. He was crying almost the whole time and he was really excited. Edgar Sosa (our convert) baptized him!!!! It was so fun to go back to that ward because I saw a bunch of members from barrio Industrial that I love and they were really excited to see me! It felt so good to see them again! That is probably my favorite ward of the mission.
Hermana Rocio!!! (mama de oscar)
Saturday night we had a baptism in our ward! Hooray!!!!!! Manuel! He is super awesome. We want him to marry our other convert, Lizet. haha. It was a good baptism. Afterwards there was an open house at our church.

This week we were working super hard and we are really pooped haha. And it is all worth it!!!!!
Thank you for being a wonderful family! I love you all and I will see you in a couple of months.

Another week in Chichen Itza!

eating together
Buenas Tardes Familia!!!!!!!!!! :)

This has been a pretty good week. We have some super awesome investigators, and Lizet, our recent convert is still shining from her baptism!

The highlights of this week, its been a little rainy! Which means we aren't roasting.
We did 2 exchanges this week! Hna. Lee was with me for a day and it was super fun to work with her, just like good ol times. It was also interesting because Hna. Martinez went to work with Hna Lee´s companion in their area so I was left with the map and some addresses to get me around because I still don't know the area too well haha.

Another one we did I went to work with Hna. Diaz (from zacatecas, mexico) in their area called Quintero. She is a really hard worker and it was super fun. I love exchanges! I always learn new things from the other hermanas and it is fun to go to other areas and meet and teach new people. Something I don't like about exchanges, is that mostly all the hermanas have small hammocks(they gave me a big one) so when we do exchanges I normally don't really sleep haha but it is all good.
Bautismo de lizet!!!

They give us the Liahonas (church magazine) every month! I have been reading a bunch of the general conference talks and I love how every single one testifies of Jesus Christ. In Elder Hollands talk, he talks about how much we need the Atonement, because without it, we are falling, and we are lost. We must come unto Christ and he will save us, He will set us free!!! It is true, without a doubt. I have felt it, I have seen it, and I will need it my whole life long.

Its been a good week. This next week will be a good one too! If all goes well, we will probably have a baptism. I love you all! Thank you for everything, for the emails, for the prayers, and your support. I am the luckiest girl ever!

Bautismo!

Hello fam!

This week was a pretty great one! Lizet was baptized!!! She is super awesome. She bore her testimony on Sunday and she is just the best ever. She invited all the missionaries in our ward to eat lunch with her last week.

We have some more people we are teaching that are coming to church and excited to be baptized. The field is white and ready to harvest! I have learned that if we are diligent and obedient in all the little things, we really will see miracles!
Elder Bednar also taught us about the trial of our faith. (Ether 12:6). We wil receive testimony, and light from the spirit when we trust enough in our Heavenly Father to act! But it is after the action that we will receive the testimony, which will inspire us to act, and we will continue to receive knowledge, direction, and peace in our lives. The trial of our faith is not a tragic event, like a death or an illness, but the trial of our faith is our constant nurturing of our conversion. We must have faith that if we put a little bit of water on a seed, then it will grow. We put a little bit of water and a little more each day with the hope that it will grow. Our conversion to Jesus Christ is our determination to follow Him every day, and when we do it, we will feel His love, feel clean from sin, and be one step closer to our eternal home with our eternal family :)

We started English classes. It was a hit! Its super fun to teach.

Well, I love you lots, I dont have much time to write. I am still learning a lot and loving the mission. Still melting like a popsicle too.

I love you all so so much!!!!! More than I can express in this email. I am so greatful for your support, your prayers, your faith in me. I feel it every day. I think I am the most fortunate person. Thank you for everything.

When It Rains, It Pours!

Well hey there!
This week was a pretty crazy one, and a pretty good one.
We got a rainstorm finally! It felt so good to just walk in pouring rain after an eternal summer. Last year i bought some plastic shoes and they are pretty awesome in the rain and I just stick a giant plastic sack over my bag so my books and stuff dont get wet.
Our street

This week we met some super intersting people, we went to go visit this guy names eduardo who had a huge fancy house! He gave us some sparkling water to drink... it was super weird.
He has traveled all over the world and fought in some war in africa 50 years ago and speaks a bunch of different languages. He showed us a cool african click language. A few years ago a member of the church had given him a book of mormon on a flight on the other side of the world or something and well he didnt want to change but said he would like to stop by at the church some day.

On friday, We were walking down the street and saw a guy coming our way and decided to contact him, the second he opened his mouth we could tell he was super drunk. He started talking to us in english and saying weird things haha but he showed us his house and we decided on visiting him the next day. We visited him the next day, saturday, and he was still a little under the influence but told us how bad he wanted to stop drinking and about some other difficulties in his life. He was super glad we came to visit him, and on Sunday, he came to church!!! It was super funny because when a person comes to church for the first time, we tell the bishopbric their name and they welcome them over the pulpit, and when they said "wed like to welcome gerardo to church, hope you feel at home" he stood up and waved to everyone and said Gracias! Gracias!!!!

In the other email I attached a picture with a family! We ate with them yesterday. They are super awesome members and Mayra, comes with us a lot to visit people. She definitely has the pure love of Christ! She has a little old white VW bug so we go chuggin around town and its pretty fun, plus we can get to the houses super fast.
Panaderia (bakery)
yellow door!
More and more members are coming to our ward which is good!!! We our focusing a lot on working with the members together! Having support sistems, where a member goes to visit the person we are teaching and reads a little bit of the book of mormon with them once or twice a week, and takes them to church. Sometimes its hard to get people to commit but we are trying.

I love being a missionary and I love this gospel. Being a representative of Jesus Christ is something very special and I can feel every single prayer that is coming my way. I have too many blessings, and I have a wonderful family. I pray for you all and I love you all.
Hope you have a wonderful week!

Lizard!

Chichen Itza

Buenas Tardes mis seres queridos!!!!!!!!!

Time is flying! My new ward is called Chichen Itza, (very far from the ruins) but there is a cool park with a couple teeny ruins in there. Its a pretty cool area and there is lots of work to do!

We have a baptism this week! Her name is Lizet, she is super excited for her baptism. She has a lot of cousins and uncles that are members of the church and I think the church is going to be full this saturday! She has made a lot of changes in her life and she already has so much light! We took her to the temple to have a little lesson in the waiting room and it was super awesome. We ran into one of her uncles there on the temple grounds and she was so happy and they started crying and hugged eachother. She showed us how she gave away all her immodest clothes and got a bunch of modest clothes! haha she is way awesome.

This Sunday was pretty cool! The ward secretary asked me to give a talk right before sacrament meeting started. You cant exactly say no, so you just have to pray and wing it. It was about service.
A lot of investigators came to church! It was so great! And then we walked home with some of them all in a little group because they live kind of close together. We ate lunch with a recent convert Mishel, who is planning on going on a mission!

The investigators here are really awesome and we are trying to focus on them and get the members to help us so that they can all be baptized, and have a true conversion!

One of the Mexico Area 70s, Elder Valenzuela, came to our mission and talked to us about being full-purpose missionaries and focusing on all of the work of salvation, teaching, baptizing, retention, reactivation, and temple and family history work. Sometimes we focus a lot of baptism but every part is really important! Hermana Lee is also in my zone again! So it is super fun to see her every week! She has grown a ton! Her Spanish is almost perfect and she is a really awesome missionary :)

I love being a missionary! It is such a beautiful calling. It can be a little overwhelming sometimes, but with if we are obedient, and diligent, if we put our part, we will see miracles!

I love you tons! Have a wonderful week!
